I am 24 years young (in about 3 weeks 25), come from Ukraine, live in Germany since 2005 and since 2007 study economics, literature+culture of the USA and pedagogics in Hamburg.

Honestly speaking, after my 5 years long pedagogics studies in Ukraine I thought that I would never do it to me again:). The thing is, educational system in my native country is still very conservative; it’s all about thick-books-by-hard-learning and every-two-weeks-a-test-writing, and a-teacher-in-front-of-the-class-standing-and-boring-things-telling, and believe me, there you would hardly find a web-camera in the whole campus.

Therefore, it was a nice surprise for me to find out that the university in Hamburg is different. Indeed, students here are allowed to watch films in the seminars, to make power-point presentations and (oh my God!) even to create their own web-pages. Unbelievable as it is, but studying does not only cause stress, boredom and headaches, but can also be creative, innovative and highly entertaining. As a result, I enjoy being a student again…
